Presentations of projects:

  • HP-SEE - High-Performance Computing Infrastructure for South East Europe’s Research Communities. Core European eInfrastructure for large-scale eScience research consists of backbone GÉANT network; distributed storage & computing infrastructure - European Grid Initiative (EGI); and PRACE initiative providing tier-0 High Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure.
  • SEE-GRID-SCI- SEE-GRID-SCI(SEE-GRID eInfrastructure for regional eScience). eInfrastructure in Europe has reached a mature state where the GEANT network forms a communications backbone on top of which a distributed computing infrastructure - the Grid - provides processing and storage services for eScience research. The South-East European eInfrastructure initiatives are committed to ensuring equal participation of the less-resourced countries of the region in European trends. SEEREN initiative has established a regional network and its GEANT connection and the SEE-GRID initiative the regional Grid.
  • GISELA - The GISELA Project (Grid Initiatives for e-Science virtual communities in Europe and Latin America) aims at:Implementing the Latin American Grid Initiative (LGI) sustainability model rooted on National Grid Initiatives (NGI) or Equivalent Domestic Grid Structures (EDGS), in association with CLARA , Latin American NRENs and collaborating with the European Grid Initiative (EGI); Providing Virtual Research Communities (VRCs) with the e-Infrastructure and Application-related Services required to improve the effectiveneww of their research.
  • IGE - The initiative for Globus in Europe, IGE, serves as a comprehensive service provider for the European e-‐infrastructures regarding the development, customisation, provisioning, support including training, and maintenance of components of the Globus Toolkit.
  • EUMEDGRID-Support - Sustainability of e-Infrastructures across the Mediterranean
  • EMI - The European Middleware Initiative brings together the major middleware providers in Europe – in particular ARC, gLite, UNICORE and dCache - to deliver a consolidated set of middleware components for deployment in EGI, PRACE and other Distributed Computing Infrastructures (DCIs); extend the interoperability between grids and other computing infrastructures; strengthen the reliability of services; and establish a sustainable model to maintain and evolve the middleware for the benefit of its user communities.
  • e-ScienceTalk - Bringing the success stories of Europe's e-Infrastructure to policy makers in government and business, to the scientific community and to the general public.
  • EUASIAGRID - Enabled the collaboration between the scientific communities in the AsiaPacific region and Europe by building on a common EGEE middleware platform now inherited by EGI. This document highlights the results of the project.
  • EPIKH - The strategic aims of the EPIKH project are to: Reinforce the impact of e-Infrastructures in scientific research defining and delivering stimulating programme of educational events, including Grid Schools and High Performance Computing courses;Broaden the engagement in e-Science activities and collaborations both geographically and across disciplines.
  • Eela - EELA-2 aims at building a high capacity, production-quality, scalable Grid Facility, providing round-the-clock, worldwide access to distributed computing, storage and network resources needed by the wide spectrum of Applications from European - Latin American Scientific Collaborations.
  • e-IRGSP2 - The main objective of the e-Infrastructure initiative is to support the creation of a political, technological and administrative framework for an easy and cost-effective shared use of distributed electronic resources across Europe. Particular attention is directed towards grid computing, storage, and networking.
  • CHAIN - The CHAIN project aims to coordinate and leverage the efforts made over the past years to extend the European e-Infrastructure (and particularly Grid) operational andorganisational principles to a number of regions in the world. CHAIN uses their results with avision of a harmonised and optimised interaction model for e-Infrastructure and specifically Grid interfaces between Europe and the rest of the world.
  • Africa Roc - The Africa Regional Operation Centre (Africa ROC) has been created as a coordination and support point for all sites in the Continent wanting to participate in the stimulating and challenging endeavour of creating a common Grid infrastructure to foster e-Science.
  • EGI - EGI.eu coordinates the European Grid Infrastructure with National Grid Initiatives, European International Research Organisations and other parties, to provide a generic e-infrastructure for all European researchers.

A dedicated flier was created together with the TEIN3 project highlighting Europe-Asia-Pacific cooperation to be distributed at the APAN32 conference in New Delhi, August 2011. The flier axplained the relations established between EU-IndiaGrid2, TEIN3 nad NKN and provided a description of 2 of the case studies, the experiments in High Eenergy Phisycs and Material Science, presented during the workshop. 300 copies of the flier were printed and included in the APAN32 delegate package and delivered to the ~ 300 APAN32 participants.
