When scientists at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN), Switzerland, developed a data sharing system for physicists 21 years ago, little did they know that it would blossom into the World Wide Web (www) and revolutionise communications creating an array of benefi ts such as the development of international collaborative research infrastructures.
EU-IndiaGrid2 - Sustainable e-infrastructures across Europe and India capitalises on the achievements of the FP6 EU-IndiaGrid project and huge infrastructural developments in India. EU-IndiaGrid2 will act as a bridge across European and Indian e-Infrastructures, leveraging on the expertise obtained by partners during the EU-IndiaGrid project.
This the first of a series of EU-IndiaGrid2 newsletters gives an insight into the project objectives and examines the work being done to develop the vision of a worldwide Grid for Research which can provide valuable and cutting-edge computing resources that can maximise research into fields that require data-intensive computing and data access.
This the second EU-IndiaGrid2 newsletter highlights the role that EU-IndiaGrid2 is playing is helping to connect research communities and scientists in India through the development of international collaborative research infrastructures. EU-IndiaGrid2 acts as an important bridge across European and Indian e-Infrastructures and fostering evolution to ensure sustainable scientific, educational and technological collaboration.
