EU-IndiaGrid2 is featured in this week's edition of Internataional Science Grid this Week as Bob Jones, EGEE Director, reports on India's Grid computing landscape. Bob Jones participated at the EU-IndiaGrid2 launch event and Kick-off meeting back in January and is a firm believer in the importance of attaining a sustainable grid infrastructure between India and Europe.
On the eve of the World Environment Day, 5 June 2010, Janez Potočnik, European Commissioner for Environment highlights the importance of the environment. "World Environment Day is an important day in the calendar. Our world needs it. By continuing to make the choices we make, by consuming and producing in the way that we have been doing for too long, we run the risk of changing the world irreversibly. We run the risk that future generations will not enjoy the planet in the same way that we have been lucky enough to do."
Dr Julian Huppert
“I am happy to learn about the second phase of the EU-IndiaGrid project. The first phase has been immensely beneficial for a variety of scientific disciplines including Biology, Earth Science and the Indian collaboration for the Large Hadron Collider. The successful working of the initial phase of the multi-gigabit National Knowledge Network (NKN), Indian Certification Authority, and participation in Trans-Eurasia Information Network (TEIN3) phase 3 are some of the important building blocks for supporting virtual research communities in India.” - Dr R. Chidambaram, Principal scientific advisor to the Government of India.
EU-IndiaGrid2 will participate at the 5th EGEE User Forum, 12-15 April, Uppsala, Sweden.
